A lot of outdated computer systems cobbled together makes for a lot of confusion. There are a lot of older workers and as they retire they take "tribal" knowledge with them, leaving knowledge gaps.

With the "retirement" of Tad Montross, the new mantra became 'more good risk, less cost'. Since then, dozens have been laid off across the enterprise, the 401k Berkshire stock profit sharing grant was discontinued, profit sharing bonuses began to shrink, and raises (for many) got smaller or vanished. While there are still some new hires, they are likely replacing higher paid people that were let go to reduce costs. (Many long timers are part of a pension plan that hasn't been available to new employees since the 1990's) There's an attitude of 'anybody can do anything' and people are sometimes asked to do things they didn't sign up for. Not everyone will be good at what they're asked to do, so you need to be aware of this going in.
