Company is on the decline

Pros

- Great work life balance - Horizontal structure makes it possible for younger employees to get exposure to and learn from upper management

Cons

- Overly conservative pricing attitude has led to Gen Re not getting new business and decreasing market share substantially over the years. - In the past couple years, benefits and bonuses have been slashed in the name of cutting costs - Management is unwilling to adapt. The “that’s the way it’s always been done” mentality persists big time within the company culture.

Bad (bad bad) management

Pros

The employees are fantastic, the office is well kept and clean

Cons

Management doesn't know what they're doing and they are all so afraid to lose their jobs that they will step on any person who tries top think or enact a change. Simply asking why something is done will get you yelled at and the end of the diatribe will be "that is the way it has always been done and you are not to ever question it." The politics are insane. And management flat out tells employees if they are unhappy, they should leave. My manager told me that I should be luck to be working for Warren Buffet and if I didn't like the 12+ hour days and middle of the night phone calls that I should find somewhere else to work.
