Good benefits though that seems to be changing every year since Roche took over the finances.

Cons

Lets see where to I begin.... New people are being hired with less experience and brought in at higher positions yet the people that have been with the company for years with a lot of experience aren't getting promoted. Not a good place to work if you are black!! Racism is rampant and promotions are only for those who are friends with the manager. I have seen many people get promoted after one year and others work hard for years and get nothing. If the economy was any better I can certainly see a lot of qualified hard working people leaving the company. Not a good place to work at all. Its a struggle to go to work everyday. Too many politics and BS in this company!!!

There are some great people to work with at Genentech. Very smart, and easy to collaborate with.

Cons

Like any big company, not all managers are equal, some are not the best at keeping their reports strengths, goals and accomplishments in mind. Also, they are experiencing some of the pains associated with becoming part of a giant pharmaceutical company (and probably a bad economy).
