Pros

Genentech really knows how to take care of its interns. There were so many opportunities to meet senior staff and talk to them about advice and general professional help.

Cons

There weren't any cons to working as an intern at Genentech. Maybe finding housing around the area for the summer and the chilliness.

Pros

Great experience, good benefits and good pay.

Cons

Must be contracted to get through. Currently no permanent positions opened and there won't be one in awhile due to the Roche merger, therefore no room for growth.

Pros

Flexible hours Genenbuses are awesome Cafeterias are awesome Intelligent co workers If you're a blue badge there is lots of room for advancement because the company is huge

Cons

The badge color mentality is unbelievable: if you're a blue badge (permanent full time) then Genentech can't be beat! If you're a red badge (highly paid consultant) then you're treated with respect but the working conditions are terrible: 10 people jammed into bull pens so tightly you're knocking elbows with each other. People find places to "hide" with their laptops so they can get work in peace and quiet and you're not allowed to work in an empty conference room either. Green badges are the bottom of the barrel, usually clerical workers, jammed into skinny tables in the hallways where everyone walks by and can't help but look over all the time, or the bull pens or forced to occupy tiny cubicles barely big enough for one person no less two.
