      Pros

      Making a difference for patients! Wanting to impact the field of science and practice of medicine. High caliber of employees; creative, intelligent, thoughtful, respectful, passionate. Senior management has high standards, integrity. CEO is visionary and has amazing insights into science and industry. Good environment to innovate (casual, fun and intense). Your input and contributions are appreciated and rewarded. Great benefits (medical, dental, vision, stock options, bonus program, sabbatical program) and fun place to work.

      Cons

      Level of dedication may not be for everyone. It's an intense place and if you're not a hard-worker, don't bother. Some departments offer a better work/life balance than others.

      Pros

      Genentech is an excellent company with very good financial compensation for its field. Its benefits are also excellent, with a gym, relaxation area, good health and dental insurance, and discounted food. Because of its successes and pipeline , job security is fairly strong. The people employed there are all exceptionally bright, kind and helpful. Generally if you send out an email asking for something someone will reply and be willing to help you out. Also they have a nice financial reimbursement for classes and professional advancement.

      Cons

      Anytime you are at a company this large, it can be hard to get to know new people. Also the policies are somewhat set in stone so improvements are hard to implement.
