Pros

Mostly good people and good perks, particularly in SF. Now that Genentech is part of the Roche group, there is more opportunities worldwide which is a good thing.

Cons

Not necessarily good at getting rid of poor performers. They somehow seem to linger on despite inadequate performance.

Pros

Pay was good. Benefits are great. Corporate culture can be very positive. Lots of development opportunities and opportunities to develop career wise.

Cons

Management skills sometimes lacking, employees have many competing priorities and seem overworked. My direct experience was with a director level person that was terrible at motivating people.

Great company with fantastic benefits. Really smart people with a lot of desire to do well. The organization is complex but they do a good job of rallying everyone around a singular goal.

Cons

International travel post Roche became too much. Lots of big company politics.
