Career development and advancement opportunities are generously provided for Scientist-and-above-level employees, but not as much for Scientific-Researcher-level employees. It's kind of as if Scientific-Researcher-level employees are second class citizens. For example, average promotion cycles might range from 3-6 years for Scientist-and-above-level employees, while being kept at 6-14 years (or never) for Scientific-Researcher-level employees. I only left because I became totally stuck, siloed and stifled in my role. I needed to learn and grow. Management is trying to make changes in this area, but it has taken a long time for such changes to materialize.
