Pros

Great pay, great benefits, and the local employees I work with are all very talented and kind and genuine and caring.

Cons

Management for my team is in Switzerland which means the managers are disconnected from the work my whole team does. I thought it might just be me but after discussing with others, I have learned that this is a team wide issue. I would advise you to look at your team structure before accepting an offer. If your management structure will not be based out of the location you are working from, odds are you will be misheard and treated like an afterthought. Further, from a leadership perspective, I have seen a dilution of what used to make Genentech so unique. There has been a progressive roll back of the fun benefits that made Genentech stand out from all the rest. I would say although Genentech is a great place filled with amazing individuals, odds are you'll be treated better working for a different company

Pros

Roche/Genentech offers a competitive benefits and compensation package, including strong healthcare coverage, retirement contributions, and other employee perks. The company also has a strong reputation in the industry and a robust pipeline.

Cons

I experienced firsthand the shift brought on by the company's evolving business model and changes in leadership. While the organization is known for its scientific innovation, the new structure introduced a significant number of additional internal processes and stakeholders, which often made it challenging to execute efficiently in the field. Another key change was the transition away from traditional sales-based compensation. Reps are now primarily measured and compensated based on Management by Objectives (MBOs), which can feel disconnected from direct performance and customer impact. Additionally, the bonus structure lacks significant upside, which may not align well with high-performing, results-driven sales professionals.

Pros

It used to be high paying - but it is not. So much better out there - especially the leadership.

Cons

This has turned into the biggest dumpster fire you can imagine - poor leadership, salespeople not bonused on sales, and backstab
