Time to go

Pros

Helath plan is reasonable, clean working enviroment. Job is predicatable and steady. Cafeteria is a nice addition however it could be bigger.

Cons

Manager who is supposed to review my work is unaware of many of the things I do. Communication & cooperation between departments is a joke. Generac spends more time fighting against itself than the outside world. The company has grown too big too fast without a game plan for how to implement changes & blend in the subs. After many years of feeling like I have been fighting against the current I have l lost motivation and now feel like I am just watching time go by until I find another opportuntiy somewhere else. The people who care and who try to point out the issues are ignored and end up moving on. With high turnover no one knows who to go to or what their responibilities are. Looks good on a resume but that is only because the rest of the world isn't witness to the dysfunction that is Generac. No flexabilty in working hours and pay is lower than average.

Not Employee Friendly

Pros

Not many pros. Lot's of challenging work and that is problem as they don't staff correctly. You will do a minimum of two jobs worth of work and probably more. If the teams were staffed correctly, there could be some good learning to be ascertained.

Cons

Company is very frugal and is very archaic in topics like Work Life/Balance and giving its employees tools to succeed. It is a 24X7 organization and you will be required to put the company's priorities before yours. Not much flexibility and the employee's time is not respected or appreciated. From a business standpoint, the organization is very storm dependent and has not found many ways to break that dependency. Just check the stock performance for supporting evidence. Makes the future outlook very uncertain.

Growing Pains in Wisconsin

Pros

Pleasant work environment, great people, improvements in evidence everywhere, and executive management with a plan for diversification. Good mid-size company benefits and good management level communications.

Cons

Manager to employee communications vary from plant to plant, department to department, and manager to manager - no standard operating plan/procedure at the employee level. Inadequate training plans and effort at all levels. Culture clashes due to many new and varied background employees. Compensation at some levels is not on a par with metro industries.
