A sinking ship

Pros

It's a paycheck. Average benefit package. If you want to relive your high school days this is the place to be. You could wear your pajamas to work.

Cons

So many established employees have left the company in the past year that some departments can't even function properly. The marketing department is a prime example of this. This company is so desperate for employees, that if you can pee in a cup and have a pulse you will be hired. Some departments have a higher turnover rate than the fast food industry. The amount of disrespect you will receive from upper management is sickening. All this company cares about is making the shareholders happy. This means that they will do everything in their power to screw you out of bonuses, screw you out of pay increases, and screw you out of moving up in the company. It's the reasons why so many people have left and are looking to leave.

Pros

Great resume booster - Good products

Cons

- Only two kinds of workers here: those who are on their phones/reading books all day while passing their work off to others or those who are so overworked there is no time to breathe - High turnover in HR - Expected to babysit everyone, even your boss because they are not professional enough to keep track of their own work - Supervisors that don't know what you do but say you don't do enough - Supervisors that look for "small wins" instead of larger/big picture wins - Micromanage but preach they don't - Ask for help and they tell you your not doing your job but then tell you to ask for help if you need it - Double standard for everything - can do a process like you were told but then told you are doing it wrong - No work/life balance - Would NOT recommend to a good friend...would recommend to someone you are looking to get back at or revenge for something really really bad - May not only experience 'workmares' but will also start fantasizing about getting in a car accident so you don't have to go to work every day - Don't expect a raise even with hard work - Be prepared for someone outside the company to get the job you want to move up to even if you're qualified (they will come up with excuses or ignore you until the other person is hired and it's "too late") - You are made to be the "face" of certain things even if you don't have the authority so directors don't take the heat for it not being completed (don't worry though, you'll get blamed for something not getting done when you've been waiting for a signature)

Pros

Company puts up posters telling you to go on Glassdoor and say how great generac is

Cons

I was forced to work six 12 hour days for 5 months without overtime pay. I am not making this up. So were about 8 other engineers and designers. 12 hours every Saturday too. Towards the end we were forced to work Sunday, also. I was told there would be a 25K bonus for this, we received less than 10% of that, and we have to stay at generac 3 years to get ""it"". The turnover is terrible, but nothing changes. Of course "Generac is hiring!" We were told we had a choice to join this team or not, but in reality not joining would mean you were at best blackballed, and at worst your job was in jeopardy. Project timelines are just plain stupid. You are signed up to fail right from the start. They are impossible to hit, and every project is late, customers are mad, it is just a disaster. I could go on and on about this place, but I see that others have already done a good job of this. The 72 hour a week project was also late, the team was told "you did not put in enough time at the start of this project, that is why it was late". So much fun! Take a job at generac at your own risk.
