Pros

awesome people, great benefits, relaxed environment, quick rotations for deployments, work load is spread out evenly and fairly to everyone.

Cons

Deployment rate if you don't like being gone/away from family, some miscommunication between HQ and job site locations, not a lot of room for growth or transitioning to other positions.

Pros

Good benefits (dental, medical, vision & 401(k)) and decent compensation when you start. One of few companies that still has a pension plan. Most employees are on a 9/80 schedule with off-Fridays.

Cons

Low annual raises. Sick time & vacation time are combined leading to employees coming into work sick in order to avoid taking vacation time. Lack of flexibility with work schedule. Senior management is disconnected from needs of employees. Lack of diversity in senior management.

Pros

General Atomics is a very stable employer. They do not have layoffs like many other defense companies. Salaries are competitive for new employees. Convenient cafeterias and gyms. 401K match and a company paid pension fund make for a good retirement plan. Excellent company to gain experience at for 3-5 years, especially for young engineers. 9/80 schedule provides long weekends every other week (for those who don't end up working).

Cons

Lack of layoffs means the company is sometime reluctant to staff up for short term spikes which requires longer hours of employees. Work/life balance could use some improvement. Long term employees will not see their pay increase with industry levels, even with outstanding annual reviews (hence the "not recommended for long term" in the title).
