Funny stories from coworkers and moderately cheap health insurance are the primary reasons that people bother staying. Universal healthcare would cripple the company.

Cons

Imagine the wildest thing you can think of going wrong and then realize it happens daily on the yard, with dumb luck the only reason for no one being killed on the job for the last 30 years.

The company is very complex with having the NAVY oversight and Union contracts driving the policy and procedures. BIW lacks any adequate training programs for successfully navigating the company systems.
