Pros

Good pay based on market, great staff to work with, love the patients. Therapy staff very caring and experienced. Communication between PMs (3 in 2 years) and staff was good. Nursing and therapy enjoyed good relationship most of the time. Finally hired an excellent registered dietician.

Cons

When genesis bought sundance, the changes have mostly been negative for the staff at the facility level with a major increase in paperwork, productivity standards very difficult to achieve without compromising patient care. Holidays cut to 2 per year. Time off had to be planned quarterly and approved by upper manager. Therapist hourly pay reductions followed by expecting therapists to perform program management duties after PM left and took 3 months to hire another. Upper management micromanaging to the point of sending daily emails to each therapist wanting to know why productivity was not met that day or why minutes were missed or exceeded. Training consists of quick overview of P&P, watch videos and that's it. The facility itself is older and not in great shape, outdated equipment, lack of storage with wheelchairs often just left outside in the weather when not in use. Sewage smells in bathrooms, spiders and ants everywhere, no easy access to water or bathroom for rehab gym. Very little follow through for restorative nursing programs or functional maintenance plans resulting in decreased patient outcomes especially for ambulation, positioning and splinting. The kitchen has not had a dietary manager for at least a year with poor meals, unreliable to provide correct adaptive equipment and prescribed food textures. Only one physician for 80% of the patients. Many complaints that they never get to see the doctor.

Pros

Outstanding level of skill/knowledge possessed by the therapists in the rehab department and entire therapy department works as a team to provide best patient care possible. Salary/compensation is reasonable and fair.

Cons

Poor communication from administation to employees, unrealistic productivity standards when combined w/ amt of documentation that is required on a daily/patient basis. Documentation demands continue to increase and management is taking away therapist clinical judgement when assessing and providing patient care by the heavily reliance on documentation. Increasing amount of therapy based decisions are the result of outcomes of documentation and not on therapist judgement based on individual patient symptoms/presentation. Mgmt does not respect opposing views/opinions and if you are a person who does not "conform" to mgmt views you are targetted for dismissal. Every staff person who expressed independent or opposing views to mgmt have been "forced" to leave the company (4 therapy staff within 1 year). Management has been "caught" in falsehoods on several ocassions during telephone conversations, email communications, and during face to face meetings. Career advancement potential is limited. Management is reluctant to interview/consider employees for upperward mobility if employ is willing to express own mind.

Pros

Some caring therapists. Good patients. Nice facilities . Average pay

Cons

Management picks favorites. Asking therapist to go home so therapists from other building can get hours. Computers take 15 to 20 minutes to log on if you in the system. Cookie cutter treatments with high minutes required from patients that do not want therapy. Other therapists grouping patients not billing it. Constant call offs. Forced to drive over hour to other facilities with no paper work ready but you have to still have your 90% productivity. Stop continued ed. Medicare needs to look at this company fast. accident waiting to happen with new grads
