Pros

There is a lot of mobility available if you want to learn another role. People transfer all of the time and usually have the ability to do so within 6 months. It is also a place where you know you have the ability to make a difference in other's lives!

Cons

You work very hard and for many hours - usually missing you lunch breaks... Depending on your role, you may have some very hard and draining days. Working with individuals who are elderly takes a special person. Even if you are not in patient care role, if you are in one of the centers you will be expected to work with the residents!

Pros

Flexible job hours, good team environment. i like the people I work with and conditions are good, but not stellar. I would like a larger gym and more computers, as well as more focus on realistic outcomes.

Cons

Emphasis on productivity, PPS and Medicare insurance billable minutes are more of the focus, than actual health care. Sometimes I would like to have more support from the company in the form employee wellness and more time off. I do like that you can flex your week, I would also prefer an hourly rate vs a salaried position. The health insurance offered is very expensive with high deductions.

Pros

Genesis provides many opportunities for career growth and development. Their Leadership Development program is dedicated to promoting from within, and providing the tools needed to be successful in any management position. Responsiveness of upper management is excellent, while communication is open and honest. Pay scales seem to be fair and reasonable compared to other comparable companies.

Cons

Balancing the mix of dedicated staff and unmotivated staff within the current nursing job market can be very challenging. While this is not a Genesis specific issue, it creates tension in the workplace that can be difficult to manage when there is no other resource to find new employees.
