Pros

Flexibility, good people, fun environment, good benefits, competitive starting salary (though you’ll need to negotiate well because raises are minuscule, 1-2%)

Cons

New leadership (CEO, CMO, CFO, etc) so changes are expected. But Marketing was hit hard with a ton of leadership changes and layoffs this month. New CMO brought in & promoted several pals from her last gig to run marketing here; demoting, firing, and breaking up other Marketing teams in the process. For a company that has empathy as a core pillar, they’re sure charging full steam ahead without empathy. I’m curious to see how many more existing people fall over the next 12 months. They said no more realignments but didn’t say no more layoffs (despite record-breaking financial performance). PS, if you’re empathetic, you don’t need to SAY ‘we’re trying to be empathetic.’ It would be reflected in your actions.

Pros

Fast growing software company pivoting towards SaaS

Cons

A company where the CEO - Tony Bates brags about 'Empathy' in every forum while he himself lacks in all - cognitive, emotional and compassionate empathy. When Tony joined as CEO and talked about Empathy, there was a hope that it will lead to much-needed change in the organization. A hope that there is a leader joining who understands employees and will focus on people. But, after 18 months in the job, company's culture has deteriorated with empathy just being a ‘hollow word’. You reach out to your leaders (hired by Tony) or Tony with your concerns, hoping that they will hear, understand and help you especially in these trying times of COVID when everyone is feeling insecure and unsafe. There is lack of patience on part of leaders or Tony to understand the concerns, rather you are identified and targeted. Tony has empowered and encouraged leaders to bully and harass employees to silence them. This culture is resulting in unethical behavior across the organization. Business is growing due to favorable market conditions for the sector, every company in this sector is growing. Tony is leveraging this opportunity to create a work environment where intimidation and fear are acceptable tools of management.

Pros

Pay and benefits are good. Work life balance is good. I work 30-40 hours per week and leave my work at work at the end of the day.

Cons

The organization is a complete mess. They are in the process of moving entire teams overseas because (in their words) "they can get 5 employees for the price of 1 US employee." US teams are being systematically taken apart and then positions are being refilled in India and the Philippines. The company is cutting too many corners in this process in an effort to squeeze out more margin. The end result is that those who are left are continually frustrated, along with our customers. I deal with more upset customers on a daily basis, I can't even recall the last time I spoke to a satisfied customer.

Thank you for your review. Genesys is a global organization and we hire people around the world – this is a competitive advantage and we are proud of the great work our global teams perform. It’s great that you feel you can effectively manage your full-time job in 30 hours a week and therefore have admirable work life balance. If you have suggestions about improving customer or employee satisfaction, I recommend you reach out to your manager or HR partner to have an open and honest discussion. Best, Tracy (Tracy Cote;, Chief People Officer)
