Pros

Some great people at the individual level there.

Cons

Not a lot of information shared with employees about things that really matter, budgets never ready on time

Pros

Value their sales people for the most part, genuinely nice people across the company, they mean well despite the slightly inflated view of themselves. They are willing to get you a Mac computer when you're hired but you have to escalate request (before you even have a company email, see comments about escalation below)

Cons

Management makes decisions in a vacuum, unrealistic expectations for daily work routine of remote sales team, escalation culture where you have to copy 15 people and their bosses in order to get something done. If you're not part of the inner circle then you never know when your unanticipated last might be. Not very tech savvy for a leading software/tech company.

Good place, but can be an uneven experience.

Pros

Good a selling vision. Good a customer communication. Internally, can feel both, like a startup, and like and established company. Can feel friendly and team oriented. Headquarters does attempt to pull in outlying members team building. Both as a company, and as individual groups/LOBs. A possibility of flex work time and location depending the the supervisor and job. The office offers a decent work environment if you like cubicles and kitchens. For the headquarters in Daly City, multi-mode transportation access is about as good as you could ask for in the SF Bay Area. 401k match Pretty good support of internal R&D personnel. At least for projects considered important at the time. Despite the large number of eastern bloc people, Genesys is a culture flexible company. Local offices do tend to celebrate and propagate local ideals and holidays around other offices. Visitors to other offices are well supported. Internal transfers to other locations are supported fairly well though not as good as some other companies of the same size. There can be some opportunities to learn new and interesting skills on the job if you are willing to work overtime to gain them. Depending on your position, you can be afforded a large amount of trust and freedom in accomplishing your job tasks.

Cons

Problems with delivering products on time. Problems developing a cohesive cloud platform due to integration and platforming issues with various legacy and acquired products. Problems continue to this day and are the result of a lack of vision, and even a disdain at times in the past, for hosted/cloud platforms until recent times. Similar to other companies with a legacy enterprise install base, it took pain in the Genesys bottom line to accelerate their cloud vision. Internally, can feel both, like a startup, and like and established company. At time can feel can castle building is the norm. Advancement might require a person to quit and reenter the company. Internal process management can be very inefficient. Problems following up with providing time and expense for training opportunities despite managements' stated goals for individual and team improvement. Despite being located at a transportation hub, that hub can be very far way, time wise, from affordable housing. Especially if you are moving to the SF Bay Area. Similar to other companies of the same size and financial situation layoffs can be performed with little thought to operational impact. All to often reorg intervals (of which there are many) are used as an excuse to layoff people rather than simply doing so ahead of time based on performance. Knowledge transfer during employee/group transitions needs improvement. This problem leads to a regular loss of company efficiency. This is company wide issue from the beginning.
