Pros

The social workers are generally given free reign to manage their own case load. As long as all your client visits were conducted you can set your own hours. Paperwork can be completed at home, while on the clock.

Cons

When a patient is actively dying a southerncare employee remains at bedside. It is done in 6hr shifts and can be in the middle of the night.

Pros

Great people, very manageable hours and workload, excellent life/work balance, easy and friendly communication with bosses, very easy to take time off work

Cons

There were very few opportunities for career advancement during my time with the company. The former CEO and CFO were based in Dallas, TX, which created a feeling of disconnect from the corporate office. Southern Care was purchased by another hospice company last summer, which resulted in the closing of the corporate office.

Pros

I was treated like a valued part of a team. The work load did not increase to unbearable as it can with smaller hospices. I would still work with this hospice if we had not of moved to a new area. Love it and would go back in a heart beat.

Cons

For me, there were no cons working with this company.
