Where is the Human in HR?

Pros

If you need a job and it is a means to an end. Medical benefits for you and/or your family otherwise maybe another department may have a better experience.

Cons

HR is a joke. The HR dept. at GW does not have real representation of an HR Business Partner. All other directors discuss their client areas including the person designated to represent HR but does not provide the same level of service to their HR colleagues. HR also should be outsourced for HR as they all work closely together most times sensitive and confidential information should not be shared among other colleagues. Senior leadership has been made aware of these issues but are not so competent and/or concerned about the greater good. They lack integrity and strong ethics. When people leave it's like good riddance and it's a revolving door and it has not been addressed. It is a very hypocritical office in some areas where emails and concerns are ignored. Additionally, there is way too much work and inadequate compensation. People are talked to and reprimanded like children for mistakes and not being able to keep up with their responsibilities, but the middle/senior level managers get glowing performance reviews and merit increases that they are very unworthy of.

Pros

I bet there are some but I did not get to experience any.

Cons

Toxic management strategies in HR. They openly talk about using the equal opportunity employment office as a way to get rid of employees with disabilities under the premise of "not being the best fit".

Pros

Convenient location, direct deposit, and they have chairs and phones for staff to use at their desks if we want to sit down? That’s about it.

Cons

Racist. Sexist. Low pay. Mediocre health insurance. Criminal enterprise? A couple of months after I started, I went to the school’s Title IX office after seeing discrimination from my Karen-ite supervisor toward women of color in my unit, so she filed a false police report on me for intimidating her (for going to Title IX, I guess) — and then fired me at the end of my introductory review period for “not enough work to do” while EEO was still investigating. By then, all but one person in my unit had quit anyway. A week later, Title IX ruled she had retaliated against me, but I didn’t get my job back and nothing happened to Confederate Karen, the dean, or the HR rep who let her do it. Peak white women. I wouldn’t work here if it was the last paycheck on Earth. There’s more integrity working these streets.
