Pros

GW is an amazing location, with highly driven students. It is a very unique academic institution with amazing opportunities for students and staff.

Cons

It is very political place. People are hired and promoted based on politics more than merits. This is clear in the leadership and favoritism is very apparent. Great if you are part of the "in crowd" not so much if you are the other 90%. It can be very disheartening.

Pros

There are truly some outstanding minds - both on faculty and staff - that made it an intellectually stimulating place to work if you are involved in academic affairs/initiatives at all. Collegial atmosphere and approachable senior leadership.

Cons

The current transition to the new ESIA Dean has meant a lot of staff turnover and a bit of a rudderless ship. Staff cohesion, morale, and professionalism seems to have taken a serious hit. Financial mismanagement from central administration has meant benefit cuts for employees, which is obviously a major draw to working at a University.
