Pros

Generous tuition benefits to employees. Holidays are great, included Christmas to NYE. Many opportunities to learn if your manager is willing.

Cons

Georgetown has many challenges for employees: too much work & lower salaries than other DMV universities; siloed teams and schools; political; favoritism for those who want to make GU career vs those they hired to affect change; and occasionally spotty ethics.

Pros

Job security, good benefits (including full tuition after one year's service), generally intelligent, committed colleagues (depends on unit), smart students, prestigious organization

Cons

Pay hardly increases (less that 2%/year for even the best performers--some years is flat), no cost of living adjustment, little incentive or possibility to move up in the organization, little incentive for professional growth (it has to come from you), widespread disregard for staff by faculty and upper administration, including the Provost.
