Pros

You work from home and don’t have to commute. They also will reimburse you up to $40 monthly for internet.

Cons

It is great to work from home, but the incessant meetings and daily tasks coming randomly through email, zoom, calendar, google sheets etc. etc. makes it impossible to get any work done in your contracted hours. On top of several weekly meetings between classes that are supposed to be for planning, but somehow always have an agenda from admin, we are forced to take minutes for IEP, RDR, and intake for the SPED department multiple times a week at any time we are ‘free’. We also have to submit lesson plans 3 weeks in advance and are observed by the curriculum department and principals every other week. They offered me a salary in the 30,000s even though I have been teaching for 10 years, and when I refused bumped it to 41,000. They do not trust teachers and micromanage despite great results based on DATA.

Pros

Work from home. That’s about it

Cons

The work load is unbelievable. There is a complete disconnect on what is possible in the 8-5 contracted day. When you work till 3am multiple nights a week... and can’t get the workload done....There’s a problem. Leadership alienates people against each other especially in the same department to the point where mistrust is on the forefront. Some schools and departments are rude and nasty to people and are completely unprofessional. If there was a quick way to tell the board and Charter commission I would have. Don’t work here

Pros

Work from home most of the time.

Cons

Overwhelming workload for low pay. Salary is a third less than county school teacher salaries. Will be expected to teach 5-6 live classes a day. starting at 8am. Planning time is consumed by meetings. Tasks are constantly added with rushed due dates, so teachers are always drowning under the workload, unable to catch up. Expect to work until 10pm or later weeknights and through the weekend. Summers are 2 weeks shorter than other school systems, and you are expected to work two weeks mid-summer. There is no work life balance. High stress, excessive workload, low pay.
