Not A Real School

Pros

You can work from home, and the kids are wonderful.

Cons

Georgia Cyber Academy experiences high turnover because they micromanage their teachers. Unless you fit a certain "type of person," they are likely to let you go. Each year, they hire a large number of teachers primarily to serve as proctors for state testing. They retain a small number of teachers and terminate the rest.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. At Georgia Cyber Academy, we are committed to retaining a highly qualified workforce and providing our staff with the resources and support they need to thrive; however, we feel it is important to clarify and address some misconceptions presented in your feedback. We value the contributions of our educators and are dedicated to supporting their growth and development. Retention rates at Georgia Cyber Academy reflect our efforts to maintain a stable, committed team of professionals. Our hiring and retention practices are grounded in a shared mission to provide a high-quality virtual education. The suggestion that teachers are hired primarily to proctor state tests and then released is inaccurate. While state testing is a key responsibility for public schools, our teachers are hired as educators first and foremost. Retention decisions are based on professional performance, effectiveness in the classroom, and ability to support student success—not on proctoring tests or adhering to a particular "type of person." We also strive to provide comprehensive training, feedback, and resources for all staff. While some may perceive this as micromanagement, our intent is to empower teachers and ensure the success of both our educators and our students within a virtual learning environment. Georgia Cyber Academy is proud of the important work we do and the dedicated professionals who make it possible. We welcome open dialogue and encourage our staff to share feedback directly with us so we can continue to grow and improve as an organization.
