Pros

a paycheck every 2 weeks

Cons

this place is the micro managed facility I have ever worked for, you cant keep track of all the things management is throwing at you on a daily basis. mbm,op ex, moe, I just wish I could come to work and make a quality product without all the bs. we have roughly 14 salaried people running about 50 production people. what a joke, they keep thinning the production people out. while all the pork is in management.

Pros

Personal Development, and career opportunities. The company has gone a series of new owners over the past fifteen years with a continuous strive to improvement and energy and resource reduction, this has left the company with a reduced but highly prouctive asset base, with a competitive marketing strategy, Continued focus on product quality and the correct product portfolio, will see G.P. emerging from the present economic downturn with sustainable competitive advantage.

Cons

High expectations and over committment. A high focus on improving safety performance that is yielding a poor crop.

Pros

Georgia Pacific is a great place to start a career. The focus on safety and environmental stewardship is second to none. There are outstanding opportunities to learn Charles Koch's MBM pholosophies on running a business and free market economics that will help through out ones life. Employees learn a lot about creating value for the company. This is the basis employment. You provide a service to the company and receive a paycheck in return.

Cons

As market conditions change and you may find yourself in a facility, department or working a particular job that that suddenly has less economic value to the company. The job will be eliminated and the employee will be terminated with no opportunity to be employed by GP again. It doesn't matter if you you have 1 year of skill with the company or 30 years. Likewise, if you are injured outside of work you are considered a potential liability to the company and your employment will be terminated unless a physician certifies you as 100% recovered regardless of length of service, skills or performance.
