Pros

-Great People everywhere - Pay / Benefits are great for me personally - Giant company that is still growing - yearly bonuses and 360 reviews on your performance and the performance of others -Ability to move around the company to different departments

Cons

-talent acquisition is slow moving and overall has awful management. It’s a bunch of comfortable people just collecting a paycheck with no fear of losing their role for not performing. -management at the mills/ manufacturing facilities are the absolute WORST. They are rude and treat them like peasants - they won’t change until fired, they came up being treated like crap so feel it’s right for them to do the same to young emoloyees coming through the company.

Pros

Great place to get your foot in the door, if you do not have any industry experience. Mostly great group of people to work with and around Good stepping stone to next job opportunity Decent starting pay

Cons

If you’re a recent engineering or college graduate (Port Hudson) will not grow your engineering skills. Examples include. 1. Not following company guidance or industry standards. Essentially this breaks down to engineers taking short cuts or asking engineering firms do the work. All real engineering is handled by outside firms. (Pro this makes for great experience managing others). What experience you do gain is non transferable unless you stay within the paper industry. 2. No stewardship of issues. MOC process is non existent 3. Planning of major events (Outages are poorly managed, no review or oversight, pre or post outage) 4. Undervalued based on other companies in the market. Go down river 10 miles and see 25% increase in pay 5. Employees are great but retention is an issue within itself. Less than 60% employee retention annually. Managers leave so frequently, direction changes every quarter.

Pros

- Great innovator and very forward thinking in regards to product generation. - Georgia Pacific has a great name that is well known worldwide. - Koch Industries is a powerful backer.

Cons

- Top Leadership (Group President/VP) preaches MBM and it's guiding principles but they don't practice those same principles. - Everyone is stepping on each other because they don't want to be the next 'position elimination' - They say your earnings/total comp is based on marginal contribution but it always ends up being subjective. - No cost of living adjustments. As stated before you are based on your total and marginal contribution and COLA's aren't warranted. - If you don't have the same pedigree (GP/Koch person) you don't have a future at GP. They will extract the information they need from you and then eliminate your position. When my position was eliminated, I wasn't allowed to apply for any other position at GP either...I had over 20 years worth of experience but once you are gone you are gone.
