      Good Company - if you can get past the politics of the owner

      Pros

      Extremely professional training and support. Best company I've worked at, honestly. Co-workers were phenomenal (except for Karen, but you know how she is...). Pay and benefits were excellent. Management seemed genuinely interested in helping everyone do a great job/be successful.

      Cons

      This is just me, so take it with a grain of salt. I had (have) some very fundamental opposition to the politics of the owner. I do not believe "the tragedy of the commons" is an ongoing issue. I really do believe we can hold some things in common through government. Roads, education, national parks (heck, state and county parks, too, and city parks). The owner's politics are so intimately entwined with the company's management theory, I found it impossible.

      Pros

      Big corporation and even after the recent mill shut downs the company still commands a significant market share. GP employees prioritize employee safety and laid back work culture.

      Cons

      Real performers hardly ever get noticed as supervisors shadow them and give no visibility to higher leadership. Supervisors use the word "data" a lot but they hardly use data. Area leaders have a strange habit of disregarding the theories proposed during a conference call or group meeting but share those "copied ideas" at an appropriate time in a different group setting sometime later to get a pat on the back from Atlanta leadership.
