Pros

The people are top notch, and the company has many well known, successful brands. The MBM philosophy encourages innovation (although the approval process is still slow and painful).

Cons

They do not believe in annual merit-based raises, and instead state that your bonus will increase year-over-year as you increase your contribution to the company. However, there is a complete lack of transparency for bonuses: you will not know your bonus percentage target, what the bonus pool is, how much the company and division performance affects it, nor how much your own performance affects your bonus. Promotion opportunities are limited. Your manager will be notified whenever you apply for an internal position, and can prevent you from moving to a different position anywhere in the company. While it is an excellent company to gain experience in the short term, you will want to seek your next position outside of GP in under 5 years.

Pros

The market-based-management culture really drives this place. GP has a well defined set of principles that lead to success, and it very clearly sets expectations around those principles. Your personal success is rewarded based upon your contribution.

Cons

The commute into downtown can be annoying, but GP allows flexible working arrangements and some work from home opportunity to make it bearable.
