Pros

Georgia Pacific is a great place to work for someone who has a family as they are very accommodating with regards taking time off.

Cons

The plant I worked at was in a small town (approximately 300 people in the town) so there was never much to do.

Pros

Good hard co-workers who care about the products and services produced. Brand loyalty and recognition. Strategicaly aligned facilties with vast of product mix that is accepted and well thought of in the market place.

Cons

The Koch philosophy of the MBM Guiding principles and upper Management's interpretation has destroyed employee morale, created divisions within the organization and allow upper Mangement to build their "inner circle" to insulate themselves from the organization. New philosophy is to pass the blame down and not be accountable. Upper Mgmt only practices the MBM framework when it works in their favor and one of the five attributes-Knowledge Processes- Buyer beware when positvely trying to "challange ideas". To much corruption from all the Gray area left to be interpreted. Too many acrynyms used to sound smarter then offering a solution instead of a nice 3 letter name! Ship is sailed out to sea and the Captains seem to be arguing over the "decision rights" to try to turn it around while the Mother ship(Koch) is bleeding it for profit before they sell the ship to the junk yard for scrap metal.

Pros

Corporate pedigree is something that may get you noticed depending on who is looking in HR, software vs. a beating heart...

Cons

Huge decline in quality of health benefits. Almost zero possibility of a cost of living salary increase. Almost zero possibility of a commission, incentive, or spot bonus in a sales role.! Performance aside, management (Gypsum) does not adhere to the MBM guiding principles of Koch except when dealing with legal or administrative issues..certainly not on compensation, and is vastly out of touch and communication with the front lines. Division has a "Masters of the Universe" management mentality that looks down their nose at anyone at the middle or bottom rungs as having little or no impact on the business or its success, and dispensible at any moment, unless maybe you have your MBA. This mentality is palpable, and operates on a climate of fear, mistrust and causes very low morale.
