Pros

Attend Graduate and Undergraduate classes for free. Work with young adults. Large technology budgets. Urban campus. Fast growing higher education institution.

Cons

Zero Employee Development. People are expected to do the job they were hired to do, forever. There are no defined career paths or merit based rewards. Managers and Directors often feel threatened by talented hard-working employees. Salaries are directly tied to the health of the State economy.

Pros

You have the ability to meet some great people within the different departments, and you can learn many things and have access to some great resources as an employee.

Cons

Georgia State University is a big business at the end of the day. The whole institution is such a bureaucracy, that you want to pull your hair out at times at the lack of progress and understanding by upper management. The University is making plenty of money, but has a freeze on all raises because of the state government issues. At the end of the day, you don't feel like the university cares about you or your needs whatsoever.
