Pros

Office environment isn't bad, and research is cutting-edge. Willing to pay for advanced schooling and certification programs.

Cons

Pay is much lower than the private sector, and work is very fast paced. If you're on a contract, your schedule is definitely NOT flexible in any way.

Pros

Very liberal policies in hiring new grads (beyond US Citizen requirement, anyway), lots of time off. Starting salaries are competitive for the area, and you can't beat their graduate school benefits if going for an MS in engineering. Good place to bank experience and a MS degree for the future, and it looks good on a resume.

Cons

Almost all work is federal contracts, usually interfacing with or maintaining older hardware, but you do use relatively modern hardware to interface with it. Salary growth and bonuses are non-existent due to state government political climate, which probably won't change any time soon. You are not even *eligible* for your first promotion until 5 years out of school and finishing your MS degree, which is unusual for an entry-level position and is difficult to explain on your resume if you leave before getting to RE2.

Pros

Interesting projects Student Assistants actually do real work On campus, easy for students Very lenient with Student Assistants with regards to needing time to focus on school, etc.

Cons

Due to board of regent's policy, GTRI is not allowed to pay CS "Student Assistants" (read: Interns that actually do real work) more than a set amount, which is quite low for CS interns
