Pros

Great people, interesting projects, and plenty of work! You'll have opportunities to get your hands in a handful of projects and learn with some of the brightest minds in the industry. Offices all over the country allow you to relocate and set up where you like. The majority of people and managers genuinely care about you and set you up to succeed. Potential to excel and promotions do exist, but tend to benefit the senior level and up. Excellent benefits and stability - if you work hard you may not feel appreciated or fairly compensated but you'll always have a role. The Geosyntec name still holds merit, this is one of the top consultants in the industry.

Cons

Consulting industry tends to be overworked and/or underappreciated. Work/Life Balance tends to be an underlying issue across all offices and positions. Geosyntec tries to act like a small firm, however they still have many corporate characteristics of the large firm that they now are, and those usually don't end up to the benefit of employees. They have gotten better recently but Geosyntec is still fairly top heavy with too many cooks in the kitchen at the senior level and not enough staff level positions to perform the work. Effect is that the Entry/Mid level staff usually has to pick up the slack and tend to get overworked. Geosyntec values and billing rates represent them being the best, which is great, but employees are not fairly compensated in my opinion to prove that mission statement true. Turnover has become an increasing issue in recent years as employees are looking elsewhere out of the industry all-together.

Pros

Job is easy. Pay is decent. Most of the people are professional and nice.

Cons

Management is all on the East Coast. Only people to get fired in the two years I was there were all on the West Coast including the person before me. I went far behold my job role duties to save the company close to 20K last year by re-purposing server hardware which is something NO one does as well as take up additional responsibilities and ask for more. I never failed at my daily normal responsibilities and never did anything that affected anyone in the company in a way which would hinder anyone at all in doing their job whatsoever. What did I get? I got fired for not immediately being at a closed abandoned office containing nothing of value while building approved cablers scheduled with the property manager's approval started to remove cabling from the wall. As if they could break something other than a light bulb and I could stop them from breaking anything by being present. Nothing went wrong at all with the removal. Basically, I got fired for no good reason. The company only cares about their image to the point of doing things which may not even make sense much more than people or things which actually matter. Management will throw anyone under the bus in a second. Now, they won't even at least give reference that I did do a good job and was given a raise and bonus the first year. I left a good job for this company and turned down good job interview while I was there only to get completely screwed for doing a good job. It is a company where 99.9% of the people can like you and appreciate you but just takes one or two stupid people and IT management always side with them whether right or wrong. Management also communicates the least possible.

Pros

Brilliant minds; interesting projects; sustainable work that is meaningful, necessary, and done to the highest standards of integrity. Benefits are outstanding. Compensation is competitive.

Cons

Work/Life Balance. It's a challenge with any company, to continue to make money and grow the company, billable projects and work must come as a priority. But sometimes it feels that it's at the cost of not having time away to re-energize.
