Progressive Company

Business Outlook

Pros

The company offers a wide variety of benefits outside the usual healthcare and retirement, such as subscriptions to Headspace and many resources to help with family life and mental health. Overall, the company is highly aware of the current problems in the world and aims to make things better for its employees. The coworkers you have are experts in their fields. The company has almost an academic feel to it and helps to fund ground-breaking research. The work is never dull and is constantly changing. If you are a go-getter, there is a lot of freedom to do work you are interested in and to develop your own business practice within the company.

Cons

While being a progressive company, some individual offices still promote excessive working hours and do not support individuals looking for a healthy work-life balance. There seem to be no consequences for supervisors or office managers who discriminate against working moms, those with limiting health issues, etc. There is no current structure that prioritizes individuals reaching their personal career goals.

Pros

Good health insurance, flexible hours.

Cons

Typical sell-manage-do business model creates a selfish environment. Seniors intentionally limit the involvement of juniors to client interaction activities and meetings for their own betterment. Might be good for a couple years at the beginning of your career. Then you career will be halted by the project managers (especially your supervisor). If you can push through and find a way to let someone share their projects with you than it might be a good place to stay. Otherwise you will work hard and project managers will take all the credit for your hard work.
