Avoid - toxic, unsafe, outdated

Pros

Sometimes there are free snacks. Experience might vary by location/branch.

Cons

Geosyntec hasn't really kept up with the times. Very messy, very antiquated. Antiquated as in working from templates created in Windows 97 in 2025. Any attempt at process improvement were met with hostility and refused. Most days, the office was a ghost town. The new staff rarely seemed happy, often overworked, and turnover was high while hiring was low. Micromanagement and passive aggressive behavior ran rampant (notice a pattern here?) The work culture props itself up with team building jargon but the staff overall are very conservative and hostile toward marginalize groups. Can't recommend working here unless any of that sounds good to you.

Pros

Most of the people I've done field work with have been fun to work with.

Cons

As a junior employee with no previous environmental consulting experience, my experience here has been mostly negative. I've received very little training and it's difficult to just 'figure things out' on my own, as communication is lacking or nonexistent. Field work is often scheduled last minute with little information. I've been sent out for field work feeling like I had no idea what I was doing, despite attempts to get more guidance. Issues with my performance are not brought up until my performance review, making it harder to address short-comings proactively. My supervisor rarely checks in. Projects tend to be very disorganized. Heavy emphasis on having a lot of 'billable' hours. I feel the work-life balance is poor. Pay isn't great and the PTO is very lacking. This job is seriously impacting my mental health and I hope to leave as soon as possible.

Pros

Leader in the space. Decent benefits.

Cons

Working in the Boca and Ft. Lauderdale offices is an exercise in patience and very little oversight. If you don't have kids, you will work harder than those who are taking advantage of this company. Ex: A co-worker has two kids, every other Friday off and the flexibility to work remotely. She takes her kids ONSITE to contracted sites she's working on (very dangerous and not allowed) and times when she's supposed to be WFH, she's actually running errands, wasting time, putting in few hours, taking her kids here and there, hard to get a hold of, and abusing those who put in the time in the office and are honest. It's frustrating to see an employee get away with this when even the work that is done is not great all because an employee may be a single parent.
