Great place to work (for the most part)

Pros

The people that work at Getty Images and iStock are awesome. There are so many bright, funny, and interesting people that it makes working there fun. The work is usually pretty interesting as well and you get a variety of projects to work on.

Cons

Management, or lack thereof, can be a hinderance at times. The expectations for you as an employee are sometimes not always clear and it can come back to bite you. There was also a tendency from some management to babysit. The bonus structure that they speak of is pretty well non-existent.

Pros

Getty is a stable company that treats people fairly. It's a good home. The folks who stay really live the leadership principles. The work life balance is perfect. The company parties and activities of late have been very fun!

Cons

Medium size company doesn't offer as many avenues for promotion as one of the giants. Not public so chances for stock option gambling are limited.

Pros

Work life balance was very reasonable here (with the exception of on-call weeks). You'll also get to work with a nice group of people.

Cons

The engineers and lower level managers doing the work are discouraged from sharing ideas or giving feedback to how problems will be solved early on. The decision making process is top down. There is no communication between technology and product departments, which has led to stagnation and lack of innovation. I left because we never seemed to be working on anything new, impactful or interesting. They also promise a 15% bonus, but since the company doesn't make any money you will never see a penny of that promise. Health and other benefits are well below average.
