Pros

Small company, less friction, lot of flexibility to learn

Cons

Comp is very low. Company struggling to handle old debts. Not much career growth if you are in the middle of your career lifecycle

Thank you for this feedback! We know the Seattle tech market is very competitive, and we regularly monitor compensation trends to make sure we’re keeping up with our larger neighbors on that front. We are also very focused on providing opportunities for growth and career development for our employees, with learning and development programs and access to tools to learn and grow, but we know we can always do better. We have a budget for employee development, and we encourage employees to discuss their goals with their managers to work out what resources will most benefit their career goals. We appreciate the ambition of our team members and want to encourage learning as much as possible.

Pros

Global company with offices around the world Great leadership principles that emphasize learning Friendly co-workers eager to socialize both within and outside work Convenient location, close to restaurants and transportation Events that emphasize growth (hackathons, open all-hands) Free bread and sparking water

Cons

Monolithic, legacy application: Difficult to impossible to bring in new ideas or practices without toppling a house of cards. Only recently moved to AWS, but still uses tech like AngularJS. Top heavy: Engineers, PMs , etc. with a 'senior' title outnumber others 4:1. Lack of communication: Devs are to fill tickets and not ask about the 'why' behind business decisions. Not much cross-functional collaboration. Somewhat of a tech bro culture: Liquor bottles/kegs in the open around the office. "Required fun" events like golf, ping pong, and video game tournaments. Lackluster compensation plan: Especially compared to other Seattle-based companies.
