      Better than Most for Adjuncts

      Pros

      This school pays adjuncts better than most per class: $5,600. They now also provide insurance for anyone teaching at least 4 courses per year. There are large budgets for field trips, visiting scholars to come speak to your classes, and supply purchases. The campus and dining facilities are terrific.

      Cons

      People in undervalued disciplines like Music, Art, and English are often considered adjuncts even when they are covering a full course load. They also offer no 401K for your first year as an adjunct even if you teach 4 or more courses. For example of what I mean about disciplines: I was considered a part-time adjunct even though I taught all the same classes as the full-time professor whose classes I was covered while the professor was on sabbatical. My friends in the sciences who otherwise had the same situation were considered visiting professors and were paid much better with full benefits.
