Pros

Being a family-owned company is reflected in their strong commitment to their employees. It is an environment in which hard work and dedication are truly valued and rewarded. Advancement opportunities abound for those that excel in their roles.

Cons

Communication between the various arms of the business can sometimes be lacking. Within a given group though communication is very strong. The issue lies solely with inter-departmental communication, however this is no different than most companies. Additionally, the HR department is largely barely competent. It certainly is a weakness and will continue to be so without significant change.

The older workers are just complainers, I dont like the fact that I was knocked from full time to part time and my benefits were taken from me and my hours were not good after that and I had bills plus kids, but they didnt care because the mangers were getting the 40 hours. So I found another job making 42K with benefits and I told Giant Eagle good bye! I dont even think managers are making that much and they been there for 20 and 30 years. pathetic!!!!
