top notch scientists, rapid pace, senior leadership takes action on results of the employee survey

Cons

no work/life balance - work 60+ hours/week, highly competitive for promotions so can be cut-throat, bonus/merit increase doesn't make up for rent increase, perks not competitive with other companies in the Bay area, runs lean (read understaffed) so stress level is really to high for most people, lots of egos to deal with

Pros

401 k matching was better than some companies

Cons

One of the worst companies to work for in terms of career development. Most of the mid leaders in DSPH-Epidemiology had no proper experience in Pharma and this has resulted in envy, jealousy and disarray in the department. No leadership in the department and most employees were afraid to talk. People who didn't play politics were marginalized. Unfortunately, the VP had no idea of this work environment.

Doing good while doing well, nice facilities, bay views, free coffee, easy freeway access, close to shopping, onsite cafeteria, good parking.

Cons

Xenophobic culture, meeting heavy, bad work/life balance, executives without outside experience, insular, not open to new ideas, headcount and budget restrictions.
