Pros

When I first started at Ginkgo, it had a wonderful culture, great benefits, and unlimited PTO, fantastic people who all enjoyed working together. Pay was good, cool office in Seaport.

Cons

The pros are mostly gone now. The founders made critical and catastrophic financial decisions that buried the company and caused over 400 people to get laid off unexpectedly in 2024. The severance was a joke. The culture has changed completely. People are stressed, unsure of the future and most are looking for their next role to protect themselves. Stress is massive. No work/life balance. Doubtful the company will survive.

Pros

- Pay is pretty good even without/before the stock (which is not worth much anyway) - Facilities are very good, wide range of equipment and technical capabilities

Cons

- Company leadership is a train wreck. They do not seem to have any ideas what they're doing beyond parroting what they read in a book by Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos or something. - Major organizational decisions frequently made with no forethought nor follow-up. - Culture has taken a nosedive since layoffs and continues to plummet. Leadership demonstrates willful ignorance to feedback on the problems. - There is a streak of over confidence bordering on arrogance within Ginkgo that results in a lot of distrust, infighting, and wastes of time.
