Pros

What is there not to love? Awesome Product- Check Full transparency- Check Great Salary- Check Supportive and collaborative culture that genuinely cares- Check AMAZING BENEFITS- Double Check But seriously, GitLab is so progressive from its 100 percent remote workforce, to it's fully transparent handbook, and its everyone can contribute culture. You really feel like you belong and deserve to be here.

Cons

I'll tell you when I find one!

Great Company, Long Hours

Pros

* Amazing technology and principles * Great people * Growth is through the roof * Company will be a success (at any cost)

Cons

I agree with the positive reviews here, but there are one or two toxic teams. I enjoyed working here, but ultimately burned out (70-80 hour/wk + weekends, not time off). PTO is strongly discouraged and management is often "do as I say, not as I do"

GitLab Response

Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your concerns about team member burnout. This is a tremendously important topic to everyone at GitLab, including our executive leadership group. We recently added a new page in the handbook dedicated to helping team members recognize burnout, isolation, and other experiences that can impact mental health in a remote setting. Read more here: https://about.gitlab.com/company/culture/all-remote/mental-health Our “no ask” policy for paid time off applies to all team members across the company, regardless of their role — even our CEO, Sid, talks about and models this behavior regularly. If any team members are not experiencing this the way it’s outlined in the handbook (linked below), we urge them to bring these concerns up with their manager, or contact their People Business Partner for support. As GitLab continues to grow and scale, we all play an important role in holding each other accountable for fostering a healthy environment and upholding our company values. These pages in our Company Handbook may be helpful: - Our unlimited “no ask” time off policy: https://about.gitlab.com/handbook/paid-time-off/ - Our values: https://about.gitlab.com/handbook/values/ - Building and sustaining our remote culture: https://about.gitlab.com/company/culture/all-remote/building-culture/

Pros

The hiring process was extremely transparent. I had clear, consistent communication, and was told specific dates to hear next steps.

Cons

If I had not read the handbook beforehand I may have been confused about a zoom issue I had.
