Pros

I finally found a company that is 100% remote and a company that makes that work really well. I've only been here a couple of months by now and what I've seen so far is wall to wall great. The warmth, helpfulness and openness I've experienced so far is almost unreal. The culture of GitLab which is about Collaboration and Transparency and a lot of other things, is pure magic. Everyone shares and cares. I'd say the pay is really good as well :-) I'd recommend anyone to apply for a job here at GitLab

Cons

As I've said, I've only been here a couple of months and so far I've yet to find anything on the minus side. One thing that is on the plus side that can be pretty overwhelming if you're not used to it though, is the Transparency. That kind of takes you by surprise sometimes and you sometimes feel lost as to knowing how to act and what to do. I guess that "Downside" will evaporate over time as I learn how to do it the GitLab way. It's more me coming from more closed cultures than GitLab actually :)

Pros

* Opportunity to work in an all remote setting on a popular developer focused product

Cons

* During my time there, I noticed a shift away being Product/Eng focused company to a Sales driven one. As a result, product and engineering have become a support function to Sales. The product culture has declined under the current CPO. * Limited opportunities for career growth and to work on new projects * Inexperienced middle management (Group and Director levels) results in rampant micromanagement and overemphasis on specific ways of working (that are non-industry standard) over results * While Diversity is one of their values, 'diversity of thought' is discouraged. For example, management is not receptive to ideas that employees may have from previous work experience and instead doubles down on processes that don't work
