Pros

Working for GitLab has been, by far, my best career move yet — from a professional perspective I've been constantly challenged, able to learn and grow from the amazing team around me, and able to contribute my expertise and feel valued. GitLab's values are more than words on paper, they are one of the few companies I've worked for that actually uphold them. A gem of a tech startup to work for — work from anywhere, have a truly flexible schedule, and work with some of the most talented individuals in the world!

Cons

Sometimes the lines of work / life balance can be blurred, but always with the best of intentions. Working night and weekend happen on occasion, but certainly a rarity.

Pros

The remote first work relationship is amazing! I cut 3 hours of commute out of my day. Everyone I' ve worked with so far has offered to help with Onboarding. The People Ops team is amazing! The Executive team is approachable and down to earth. The organization truly cares about the people.

Cons

You should be ready to learn a new way of thinking about and working towards efficiency, collaboration and results. The methodology is a bit overwhelming when coming from conventionally structured orgs. Give it a chance to sink in, it really works!

Pros

GitLab has an amazing culture driven by results. They do not care when you work, but that you simply get the job done. It is refreshing to work for a company that allows this sort of freedom. Everyone at the company is friendly and welcoming.

Cons

If you are not a fan of working from home (or working remotely) than this company is not for you. The freedom and flexibility come with the possibility of feeling lonely, but GitLab is doing its best to combat that. We have instituted coffee breaks where you schedule time to take breaks and chat with co-workers. We also have many channels on Slack to communicate with co-workers.
