Pros

GitLab lives and breathes its CREDIT culture -- collaboration, results, efficiency, diversity & inclusion, iteration, and transparency. One of the most open, transparent, AND trusting companies you'll find. Leading-edge about how to work remotely.

Cons

Adapting to 100% remote can be a challenge for some.

Pros

- very good peers - flexible time off - 1 Friday off per month - great documentation system -decent benefits

Cons

- upper leadership micromanagement - no responsibility on other teams to communicate - poor sales and sales dev training. They say it's good but it's not and for over a year nothing was done to fix it - leaders with 0 emotional intelligence to the point of it being shocking -below market pay for a all remote tech company -no consistency in hr . Some ppl are amazing others don't even know how they got the job - your hb is way too long and not as easy to navigate as the company claims - leaders will be gone without anybody explaining. Happened twice during my time there and it was odd and not at all in line with the supposed transparent culture.

Pros

-They have unlimited PTO which is seamlessly integrated with the company's messenger and requires no approval if less than 2 weeks for each submission. - While not quite as transparent as the pre-IPO days, the level of transparency in the public facing handbook still beats every other company and rivals some academic institutions in terms of quantity of valuable information. (such the the entire UX dept handbook, which can be viewed by anyone and helpful for any UX dept in the software space). - The real commitment to Diversity, Inclusion & Belongingness both in terms of leadership action and fiscal backing is pretty nice. There can always be more done, but the company does take their values very seriously. - Every person operates independently by working from home (even the CEO), and the large majority of meetings can be either rescheduled or missed and reviewed later a-sync. The entire company is built on a-sync, WFH workflows so I flexibility is unparalleled and very suited for the post-pandemic world.

Cons

-Because each person handles their own schedule, some people can either become a little lazy at times, or extremely tired and overworked at other times. But there are mental health resources to help prevent burnout.
