Pros

Documentation-first approach helps ensure asynchronous, distributed culture thrives. Values are clear, well documented, and lived by all employees. Tons of smart and motivated employees. Progressive and flexible working agreements. All remote. Periodic all team gatherings. Great outlook to capture a larger percentage of an expanding market. Compensation and Benefits are great.

Cons

100% remote takes some getting used to - sometimes hard to shut work off.

Pros

Its the world's largest all-remote company. The freedom I had to structure my day will be tough to match anywhere else. Overall the company is loved by it's users and it's a really hot space to be in right now. GitLab moves REALLY fast and the rate of improvement from a product perspective is incredible. From a competitive standpoint there are only 3 major vendors in this market and the other two are publicly traded

Cons

The nature of the solution is so critical that customers and prospects don't change course very frequently. That's great for accounts that already use GitLab and are growing but guess what? All those accounts are already owned by other reps which leaves new arrivals with table scraps. The only people I saw being successful were those with F500 customers which had already committed to gitlab and are now just growing their usage. In short if you don't have a book of business that has a couple large and growing accounts you have a near zero chance at being successful here. I felt like they viewed new AEs as a pipeline generation tool and nothing more

Pros

- biggest all-remote company, doesn't just do remote, but does remote well - you feel connected to the entire company - everything (almost) is public! There is a handbook that everyone contributes to that has all the information you need. I was blown away by the transparency - even before joining I could look up anything about how the company operates. - truly lives by the values set and there is a lot of credit / thanks going around praising team members exhibiting them - amazing people all around - great personalities - very competitive compensation - amazing time-off policy (best policy I ever encountered) you truly have the freedom to define your life & schedule - time for self-actualization - manager will actually hunt you down if sees you burning out - great freedom & financial support to create your dream home workstation - very inclusive! found a group for everything, diversity is respected - grand potential for career development - gosh, there are a lot of good things - I'm afraid I'm forgetting stuff

Cons

- if you haven't worked remotely before beware of the trap of working all day, also set up needs to be good and distraction-free
