Pros
I'm a woman. I'm an immigrant. I'm an ethnic minority. I'm the first employee at Giveffect to be promoted to a management position. This offer was discussed within two months of my start date. To me, my rapid advancement as a direct result of merit speaks volumes. Management pays close attention not only to our performance but they're also sincerely invested in grooming leaders from within. But I also recognize that Giveffect is not everyone's cup of tea. Values: We are old school in that we value discipline and grit. We are very, very hardworking. Everyone gets back exactly what they put in. This applies to every single person including our founders. Focus & Structure: We know exactly what we're doing (for now, at least, until we outgrow where we're at). We're a sales-driven company and our sales training is possibly among the most rigorous and thorough in the space. Growth Opportunities: Capable and hardworking team members are generously rewarded. Your team rallies around you to support your rise. Friends Have Your Back: We have a tight team and I have a friendship outside of work with everyone in the company.
Cons
To do well at Giveffect, you must have a firm grasp of your own pedagogy. That is, you already know how you learn. We train all new hires on the product and our process but we cannot train new hires on how to learn. It's imperative that new members have all that figured out before joining us. I recognize this has been the greatest drawback in working at this company because no one is a manager full-time. Everyone is super busy working and not managing other people's work. We're a terrible fit for individuals who have little work experience in general and in particular those who need ongoing support. Without a doubt, Giveffect is an environment best suited for motivated and independent learners. My team also starts early in the day and while that doesn't automatically mean you'll have no life, you'll find that some adjustment in schedule will be needed in order to make the role sustainable.
