Pros

Flexibility is great. I can take my kids to appointments and make up hours with out taking a short check.

Cons

Poor communication between leads and co workers. Terrible computer systems. You have to track your down time but yet only get half credit for it which in return you can't hit your quotas. No help or compassion for employees.

Pros

Friendships made along the way, was able gain some experience. Offers a few advancement opportunities, i.e., to become a paramedic. Opportunity to internal transfer to another operation.

Cons

Trust the red flags, signs endured from the initial time as an applicant to being the new hire, employee. From being an applicant to becoming an employee myself, I have experienced the unfortunate lack of communication, favoritism & unprofessionalism conducted by some (not all) members of leadership. I wish I could say this does not exist to this day, but it does.

The best of IFT (still IFT nonsense, tho)

Pros

As good as it gets for IFT: minimal IFT BS, ALS personnel actually used for ALS. They have a lot of ALS provider churn, so they're encouraged to be halfway reasonable. Best IFT pay in Austin with bonuses for high-call volume. Ok trucks/equipment: not the best, not the worst.

Cons

Lots of EMT-Bs supervising medics. Many of the medics don't have a gram of 911 field experience. Still a few very small, sad people in positions of authority. Internal dispatch sucks, plays favorites and dispatches calls poorly under best of circumstances.
