Pros

Coming from consulting within healthcare previously GlobalData's product was great to see. It is truly very powerful with recent additions adding to the value offered to clients. BI tools like GD's Pharma Intelligence Center are an essential part of Pharma's toolkit - my limited experience tells me that GDs is one of the best. The commission structure is brilliant. If you are good and work hard you can earn A LOT of money. The commission structure rewards doing high value deals for multiple years across multiple products. Great team, with good office banter. Central London location is great for drinks/activities after work. Pharma's Jefe is knowledgeable about the product, the clients we sell to and fights for his team to be rewarded by the company. I enjoyed working with him and learnt from him.

Cons

Targets are tough. This is sales and you are expected to hit target (it's our job...) but it can feel that you bill one month and if you don't the next your job is seriously on the line. You miss another month and you are one step from the door. You either swim in this environment or sink. It isn't for everyone. I didn't experience it much but I understand there is often in-fighting for deals/clients/leads and under-cutting/dirty dealing does happen. Its "mano a mano". However if you manage your territory the former isn't an issue. The company has a mindset that the data is the product. It is then for the client to interpret that. There is no thought leadership or analytical thinking applied to the data, it is just data. Consulting is constantly pushed by management but the sales teams are not rewarded for selling consulting. Additionally, during my tenure, the consulting product was a simple data pull pushed into a "custom" report. This is not consulting. It adds little value to the BI cloud-based product. the consulting side should add the analytical, thought-leadership to the already powerful BI data product. Upper level management however demand that consulting be pitched to clients alongside the BI product but the with no clear direction or strategy... throw $hi*t at a wall and hopefully something will stick. The team struggles with diversity ... a lot of testosterone flowing.
