Pros

Working from home is perhaps, the best benefit

Cons

Reading GDs annual report is an amazing piece of fiction that does not map with reality. The unfocussed persuit of more, a lack of strategy and the crazy persuit to be a "Bloomberg" is pushing the company to breaking point. Analysts have either been layed off or have left and the remained left to pick up their slack. The push of custom work means that regular syndicated research is suffering. No decent IT, tools to do your work effectivelyeans the whole organisation uses commercial or free services to get work done. Quite frankly it's surprising that the company is still going. Quantity has taken over from quality. Rediculous amount of software developers are used to keep a home-grown shambles of a web site going rather than using an off-the-shelf content management solution.

Pros

They pay you commission - however, this is standard with any sales job.

Cons

Micro Management - they have noise cancelling headsets and I was shocked that management will dictate EVERY WORD on call when an opportunity has progressed beyond a cold call. Even when what they're saying is nonsense, you have no choice but to regurgitate their drab. Culture - Shocking. They believe that because they're in before 8am and leave after 7pm that they're 'winning'. They need to learn to work smarter, not harder. There's a difference. Analysts - There is no link with the sales team. They aren't 100% sure they exist. It is just further evidence of 'Us Vs Them' mindset the deluded sales team like to take on. They believe that they're the only ones making money and anyone else are 'losers'. Which leads me to my next point...... Money - this is the reason people who hate the job justify their position. They are brainwashed by managers who have come from Datamonitor and believe there's no other way to make money than this awful lifestyle. Well, firstly, the commission structure is no better than the market rate - if not worse. Have a look for yourself. Also - getting paid 100% commission would not be worth having some donkey 'second-voice' word for word what to say on a call.

Pros

Good central location, very close to Blackfriars so easy to get to, and some of the people working there are nice

Cons

GlobalData is a terrible employer, offering little in the way of career progression, support or even enough resources to do your job properly. The fact that there are so many positive reviews makes me strongly suspect many have been written by shills at the instruction of senior management, something that is highly characteristic of their approach to problems at the company. The IT is the biggest joke of any company I have ever worked at - there are far too few staff in this department, and the vast majority of the computers are well below the specs they should be for the roles they are being used to support. Much of the software used is also decades old, and often unsuitable. The vast majority of the teams are also woefully underesourced, with a fraction of the staff needed to do the work at hand properly. Many have no budgets for basic things to support their work, and it is not uncommon for people to end up funding things out of their own pockets simply to do their jobs properly. There is an unwillingness to spend money on anything, no matter how much of a good business case it is, with employees expected to work miracles and match rivals with budgets ten times the size. Communication between the senior management and the rest of the staff is almost non-existent, with changes coming out of the blue, and contradictory decisions being made on a regular basis. Staff with expertise are never consulted on decisions, meaning many of those made are totally unworkable. The average pay is well below market rate. Regular pay rises do not exist, and attempts to negotiate pay increases are made near impossible by the fact that non-managerial employees do not have access to anyone with the power to approve them. There is also little in the way of career progression opportunities. The company also breaks people. There is a fairly abusive culture, with employees often being very aggressive to each other, and refusing to support each other when required. This appears to stem from the attitude of the CEO and trickles down through the company. This combined with the lack of resources results in many people becoming highly stressed and burning out. The office is also filthy, and too small for the number of people who work there. This is a terrible place to work. Do not work here if you have any other options.
