Pros

The pay isn't too bad and they give a relocation package.

Cons

State of NY takes half your relocation package. No training given and no one stays past 2 years.

Pros

a) Hanging out with friends b) Travelling around c) Sticking around with few engineers that know where the problem lies. These are the engineers being sideline by management. I learnt a lot from them, thank you.

Cons

There is be no 7nm technology by 2017/2018 as promised by the management team. Too bad I cannot type our the reasons here. a) Managers - clueless, and they are afraid of employees who are better compared to them. The managers never like direct reports that will challenge them. b) Backstabbing colleagues - never have a good solid team that excel in problem solving. Management favors a team leader that provide 0 CIP for 2 years or anyone that is a "yes" person.

GLOBAL FLOUNDRIES

Pros

There are not many smart people there, so you can get away with not knowing anything, because there's no one there capable of calling you out on it.

Cons

They never tell the media any bad news, and they never tell their employees any good news. They exaggerate how good things are going to the public to generate interest for someone buying the company, while they exaggerate how bad things are going to their employees to keep expectations low for salary raises and bonuses. They're not a publicly traded company, so there's no law stopping them from doing this. Basically, Global Floundries is a vanity project for some oil billionaire who knows nothing about the semiconductor business.
