Pros

Great team of talented Employees. People are friendly and senior level engineers waste no time interacting with younger ones. The work does get done and the environment is about teaching, improving and executing.

Cons

Culture Shift is needed after IBM Merger. Management does not help to inform mission- and there is a feeling that there is a lot more going on than they let on. No GROWTH POTENTIAL FOR YOUNG ENGINEERS - in terms of getting a new position or moving up. It's only good if you are less than 5 years in

Pros

Nice, new office buildings with lots of windows. A chance to work on close-to-leading-edge technologies. A lot of bright, eager new engineers and some very smart experienced people. Most want to do the right thing to make Fab8 successful. Pay and benefits in alignment with industry standards.

Cons

Forced ranking and rating system seems designed to demotivate the mostly very good to excellent workforce. The already poor moral takes a predictable plunge to abysmal every performance review season. Many hours are spent on documentation and meetings when even 1 wafer is scrapped instead of focusing on real improvements. Work-life balance is horrible. It's made worse by managers who want people onsite during weekends and holidays regardless of whether it's needed or not. Way too many inefficient meetings where no real decisions are made. Only upper level management can decide things. Some in management think the best way to get results is by yelling at the employees and each other. People are leaving in droves, but HR and senior management just blame the first line and middle managers instead of addressing the systemic issues.

Pros

There are none as many have written.

Cons

Excessive work hours, no work/life balance, no true mentor-ship program, the few women that are promoted are new-hires brought by the executive staff to the company. Some management follows their employees, judges their preferences and records them in their personal lives so beware. The dept that is suppose to protect you allows for discrimination, confidentiality, and gossip to run rampant most of which is created by them for public humiliation. If you approach a certain dept with an issue against a manager or another employee you will be laid off or fired in time whether true or not and they will insure your reputation is tarnished in the industry.
