Pros

Relocation allowance was $15K, lots of quality vendor training to pad your resume, diversity is good, the company is kept afloat by a disgustingly wealthy Arab investment firm (and can use cash to brute-force the way ahead in the technology race). Overtime is readily available.

Cons

Short version: Very toxic work culture. Long version: Many respected and valued employees are leaving. Competition is unrelenting because promotions, raises, and recognition are very scarce ($0.32/hr raise total over ~2.5 years in my case). Normally competition can be healthy, but at GF people some have learned how to play "the game." For example, technicians and their managers have learned to flood the leadership with emails to take credit for any problem findings, the slightest of work done outside of the normal scope, checklists completed, and any other little dribble worthy of recognition. There is an imaginary line between engineers and shift technicians in terms of teamwork and camaraderie--on one side, you have a group of intellectuals with BS, MS, even doctorates who mostly work in cubicles from a computer. One the other side, you have people who are predominantly experienced high school graduates or military veterans who work only in the cleanroom for 11-12 hours. The two sides don't collaborate or communicate well. The vendors are toxic--from the food service monopoly, to the equipment FSE's who keep us hooked on service contracts like methadone by never letting their tools be 100% operational (by choice or by default of incompetence).

Pros

A few employees are going above and beyond to try and fix the company, but not the right people.

Cons

Management, workplace culture, dead weight employees, lack of standards or accountability, micromanaging management that can't manage, benefits are standard for the area but not impressive. Overall depressing vibe.
